“Just like working with Khari,” Gordon said. There is almost always a personal connection when football coaches are hired. Branch said he remembered how Gordon had helped him during his first CFL training camp in 1994 when no one else would. He got the China gig due to his relationship with Darrick Branch, whom he played with in Toronto. Gordon attended a couple of combines, but the league hasn’t operated for the past two seasons, which is why it’s understandable he forgot about that line on his resume. That led to work with The Spring League after the FXFL folded, guest coaching stints with the Seattle Seahawks and then to Asia, where in May 2017 he was named head coach of the Shenyang Black Rhinos of the China Arena Football League.
